Do I Need a Visa to Visit France?

Canadian citizens using Canadian passports do not require a visa to enter France for stays under ninety (90) days.

Most other nationals will need a visa.

Non-Canadians must apply IN PERSON at the French Consulate for the European Customs Treaty Zone visa. Visa seekers are advised that they must seek visas directly and in person from the French Consulate as they will be interviewed and fingerprinted and biometrically scanned

Non-Canadians must make an appointment directly with the appropriate consulate and attend the IN PERSON interview and fingerprinting. You must contact the consulate for the appointment. The consulate will tell you which documents to bring to your appointment.

France is a signatory of the European Customs Agreement on border control and visa standardization.

For travel to French colonial areas, territories, or departments of France, please consult the country page for that place. If you need to known whether or not you will need a visa for these places, please refer to the "Find a Country" button above.

NOTE: All applicants are required to attend an interview to apply for and secure a visa. This may mean travel to a distant consular office.

Due to French government regulations no third party can assist. Visa-seekers for France are advised that they must seek visas directly from the French Consulate in their consular region, even if it is not in their home province.
