The Republic of France
Do I Need a Visa to Visit France?
Canadian citizens using Canadian passports do not require a visa to enter France for stays under ninety (90) days.
Most other nationals will need a visa.
Apply IN PERSON at the nearest French consulate for the Schengen Zone visa.
Non-Canadians must apply IN PERSON at the nearest Embassy or Consulate of the country which is their main or first destination.
France is a signatory of the Schengen area Agreement on border control and visa standardization. The application for a Schengen area visa is the same for all members. Prices vary depending on the country of your first arrival.
For travel to French colonial areas, territories, or departments of France, please consult the page for that place. If you need to known whether or not you will need a visa for these places, please refer to the list above.
NOTE: you will be required to attend an interview to apply for and secure a visa. This may mean travel to a distant consular office. Applications for an interview are only accepted within six weeks of travel. It can take up to three weeks to make a visa determination.
Due to French government regulations, visa-seekers for France are advised that they must seek visas directly from the French Consulate in their consular region, even if it is not in their home province.
