AUTHENTICATION & LEGALIZATION - APOSTILLE
Authentication & Legalization - Apostille
Do I Need Documents Authenticated & Legalized?
Most foreign countries require that Canadian documents be "authenticated and legalized" by the Canadian government and their embassy before the documents will be accepted in that foreign country.
This process is often referred to as Apostille or Apostilles in other countries.
Documents commonly authenticated & legalized include birth certificates, divorce decrees, resumes, CV's, diplomas, and commercial invoices. Many other documents can also be processed.
We will get your original Canadian documents notarized by a Canadian lawyer; then authenticated at the Canadian Government office in DFAT; then legalized by the foreign embassy or high commission or consulate.
It is very important that you contact us before sending documents. Each country has their own rules, and you need to know the detailed requirements before sending anything to Ottawa.
Educational documents/school letters/transcripts/diplomas: Many embassies require original transcripts directly from the university or school which issued your diploma before they will legalize your diploma. Please call us before sending your diploma to Ottawa.
